ARUK 2021 | Future perspectives on the use of human stem cells to model Alzheimer’s disease

Bryan Ng, PhD Student, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, discusses the future steps of his work using human stem cells to model Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The use of tau-deficient cells to characterize cell phenotypes after treatment with amyloid beta oligomers can be expanded to analyze the mechanisms behind the observed phenotypes. For instance, a more in-depth evaluation of neuronal outgrowth impairment can be performed, and AD patient-derived stem cells can be considered for further analysis. This interview took place during the Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) Conference 2021.
