At the 31st International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), held in Budapest, Hungary, from April 21–24 2016, William Stewart, BSc, MBChB, PhD, DipFMS, MRCPath, from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, United Kingdom, explains that chronic traumatic encephalopathy, in which the timing of the initiating insult is known, provides a unique opportunity to understand the mechanism of disease leading to dementia.
