EAN 2017 | Basal forebrain atrophy and elevated plasmatic homocysteine levels

Ondrej Lerch, MD from Charles University in Prague, 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Motol University Hospital, Prague, Czech Republic talks about a study looking at the association between plasmatic homocysteine levels, basal forebrain (BF) and hippocampal volumes in cognitively normal elderly patients with subjective cognitive decline (SCD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s disease dementia. Dr Lerch explains that they found basal forebrain atrophy to be associated with elevated plasmatic homocysteine levels.
