AD/PD 2022 | Health literacy in dementia care

Abdulrazak Abyad, MD, Abyad Medical Center, Tripoli, Lebanon, comments on the importance of health literacy. Though many efforts have been made to eradicate health illiteracy, it is common, especially among the elderly, and remains an issue in Alzheimer’s disease care. With the help of social media and increased access to reliable information, the newer generations are becoming more health literate. Additionally, programs like the Dementia Diploma aimed at caregivers hope to increase literacy rates among the population and help those who care for dementia patients to get a thorough understanding of this complex subject. This interview took place at the AD/PD™ 2022 Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
