AAN 2022 | Sufficient omega-3 consumption could help with the prevention of dementia in APOE4 carriers

Hussein Yassine, MD, Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, discusses how dietary changes could help with the prevention of dementia in people who have the APOE4 gene. APOE4 is the strongest genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, so identifying effective prevention strategies for people with the gene could have a large impact on the prevention of dementia. Dr Yassine discusses recent research into omega-3 consumption and whether or not sufficient/increased omega-3 consumption could help to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in APOE4 carriers. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
