Philip Tipton, MD, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL, shares a practical approach to cognitive impairment and how to develop a strategy that promotes accurate diagnoses. While the biomarker developments are exciting, they are mainly on Alzheimer’s disease, and advances on other neurodegenerative diseases have not reached the same level yet. Therefore, there is still a high reliance on clinical skills to be able to understand the domains affected and use that information to guide the next steps in evaluation.
