AD/PD 2022 | NICARA for automated morphometry and connectomic analysis

Markus Butz-Ostendorf, PhD, Biomax Informatics AG, Planegg, Germany, introduces NICARA: NeuroImaging-based Connectome Assessment in Research and Application. The software provides sophisticated processing pipelines for fully automated imaging analysis, combining morphometry and connectomics assessments in one tool. NICARA allows the user to perform probabilistic white matter tractography from diffusion tensor imaging, analyze their own and public connectome data sets, conduct whole brain and subnetwork connectome comparisons, and use built-in ontologies to filter connections to specific regions of interest or disease relevant subnetworks. NICARA can also provide cortical morphometry measures from raw images, including gyrification, thickness, depth, area, and volume assessments. Dr Butz-Ostendorf comments on the value of having these tools combined in a single program and how NICARA could be used to improve clinical trial conduction. This interview took place at the AD/PD™ 2022 Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
