ARUK 2021 | The impact of presenilin-1 mutation on familial Alzheimer’s disease

Selina Wray, PhD, University College London, London, UK, explains her group work on familial Alzheimer’s disease mutations. The research focuses on understanding the presenilin-1 (PSEN1) mutation and the gamma secretase disfunction. The effect of PSEN1 mutations on Notch signaling, which is crucial for neuronal development, leading to a faster neuronal differentiation, is discussed based on experiments using 2D and 3D models. This study provides insights on the impact of the mutations on the development of familial Alzheimer’s disease. This interview took place during the Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) Conference 2021.
