Donation of brain tissue, from both healthy individuals and those with neurodegenerative diseases, is essential to enable vital research. This is emphasized here by Johannes Attems, MD, of Newcastle University, Newcastle, UK, who highlights the need for this critical resource, as well as new approaches to supplement this.
