AAN 2022 | Using imaging and blood biomarkers to assess the effect of nutrition on the development of dementia

Hussein Yassine, MD, Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, discusses the development of blood-based and imaging biomarkers to be used when investigating the effects of nutrition on the development of dementia. These biomarkers can be useful in researching preventative measures because they can provide an early indication of efficacy well before the onset of disease or clinical symptoms. Dr Yassine explains how recent research into levels of omega-3 in the brain used imaging methods to assess the effects of increasing omega-3 levels in patients at high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
