AAIC 2020 | Cognitive stimulation therapy with the conversational robot Eva

Jesus Favela, PhD, CICESE Research Center, Ensenada, Mexico, discusses the use of Eva, a conversational robot, for cognitive and social stimulation and to help reduce behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia. Prof. Favela describes the study conducted in a geriatric residence with dementia patients in which cognitive stimulation therapy was guided by the conversational robot Eva. Results showed a decrease in the short-term disruptive symptoms of dementia for all participants, while half of them experienced a long-term reduction in behavioral symptoms. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Dementia (VJDementia).
