ARUK 2022 | Pharmacological vs. non-pharmacological treatment options for psychosis in AD

Byron Creese, PhD, University of Exeter Medical School, Exeter, UK, discusses the treatment options for patients with Alzheimer’s disease who are experiencing psychosis. The first step should be to rule out underlying medical conditions that could be causing the psychotic symptoms, followed by any suitable non-pharmacological options. Pharmacological intervention should be the final resort for treatment, due to the pitfalls of current options, including significant side effects. This interview took place at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Conference 2022 in Brighton, UK.
