AAIC 2020 | Repurposing existing drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease

Clive Ballard, University of Exeter Medical School, Exeter, UK, discusses repurposing drugs clinically as a treatment option for Alzheimer’s Disease. This would be an extremely efficient treatment option as the scientific community would already be aware of the appropriate dosage and safety precautions, thus enabling them to move quicker into clinical practice. Prof. Ballard mentions four target drugs that potentially can be repurposed to treat Alzheimer’s disease: liraglutide, fasudil, phenserine and valaciclovir. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Dementia (VJDementia).
