AAIC 2022 | Microglia-neuron crosstalk in Alzheimer’s disease

Soyon Hong, PhD, University College London, London, UK, discusses microglia-neurone interactions. It is known that microglia actively monitor changes in neuronal activity, and employ pathways and mechanisms to perform a variety of functions. Dr Hong discusses how microglia can recognize overall neural changes at the soma, as well as activity-dependent changes at the synaptic level. The exact mechanisms of these interactions are still unclear. This interview took place at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2022 in San Diego, CA.
